|
Reporting to the Pipefitter/Pipe Welder Supervisor, Pipe Welders will be required to operate welding equipment to weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
2. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc (GTAW), gas metal arc (GMAW), flux-cored arc (FCAW), plasma arc (PAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), and submerged arc welding (SAW)
3. Operate brazing and soldering equipment.
4. Work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
5. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the workplace.
6. Perform other duties as directed by the Pipefitter /Pipe Welder Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
The skills and abilities required would normally be associated with completion of journeyman/woman trade certification, combined with a minimum of 2 years’ GTAW experience in an industrial environment.
The equivalent of 54 months direct experience in this discipline is required for qualification of certification exam by the Alberta Apprenticeship Board.
Must be capable of working from heights, working in confined spaces, ascending and descending ladders, gangways, and stairways, and working in an outdoor environment for all seasons.
